General Announcements:

  • Winter Band Concert, Monday, November 25th 7:00pm in the Roosevelt Theatre
  • Do you like to bowl, or do you want to learn how to bowl? Then sign up for the girls bowling team on final forms. Come to practice TODAY at the UW Hub at 4:15pm. Please contact Ms. Simone for any questions you may have. 
  • Our Rider Girls Soccer team is headed to the State Semi-Finals against Bellevue this Friday, November 22nd.  There will be two Fan Buses for Roosevelt students who want to support.  Tickets are $30 for transportation and entry fees (limited FRL tickets available). Tickets will be on sale in the concession stands at lunch Tomorrow and Wednesdays. You must have a completed Field Trip Form in order to purchase a ticket. Field trip forms are available outside of 109.  Requirements to go on the Fan bus:
    • Completed field trip form with parent or guardian’s signature.
      • 2.0 GPA
      • Medical clearance
    • Deadline is Wednesday, November 20th at Lunch
  • Last night, DRAMAFEST continued on the Roosevelt stage with three new all student-written, directed, designed, and performed plays!  The fun goes on TONIGHT at 7:00pm with the final three world-premiere short plays performed back-to-back!  Tonight, don’t miss:
    • STORIES, written by Cristina Gonzalez-Matias and directed by Kat Kinnan & Priyna Chohan;
    • THE SLEUTH AND THE SUSPECTS written by Karina Behrend and directed by Camille Rochon and Avani Shashidhar (“Sha-sheed-er”);
    • and MR. VALENTINE WOULD LIKE TO SEE YOU NOW written by Gabe Whitehouse and directed by Ella Molinaro, Tova Lerer, & Emily Beaton
      • Your $5 ticket gets you in to all three shows tonight.  Buy it NOW online at rhstheatre.net or at the door!  Dramafest concludes tomorrow night at 7:00 with the FREE Fest Finale!  Find out which shows will win Best-of-Fest among dozens of other awards.
  • This is a reminder that the HOSA and the National Honor Society is hosting a Blood Drive on Friday, November 22 in the gym. Donating blood is a simple way to save lives and make a real difference in our community.  If you’re 16 or older, sign up today by scanning the QR codes posted on Roosevelt’s national honor society Instagram or go to Ms. Coulthard’s room in room 333 and Mr. Reese in room 235. The QR codes will be posted outside.  You will get community service hours if you donate!
  • Attention Seniors!! It’s time to order your cap and gown and senior swag!  Two ways to order:  Order online at https//rhsridershop.com/ or complete the paper order form available in the main office and mail it to National Achiever Services by January 15th.
  • Looking to have food at a club meeting? Want to bring in a speaker? Need to buy materials for an event? Want to sponsor a community event? The RHS PTSA Race and Equity Committee (REC) and RARE are providing grants to student groups ranging from $50 – $200. REC and RARE are looking to support community and inclusion at RHS. Student groups include clubs, sports teams, music and arts groups, and student-led events. Apply from now through December 13, 2024 (Round 1) or February 28 (Round 2, if funds are available). There will be flyers with a QR code and link to the application posted around the school. We’ll send you more information after receiving your responses. Questions?     • Boys Basketball Is looking for dedicated, committed managers for the upcoming season.  Earn service credit.  Contact Coach Young ASAP
    • TSA is hosting our annual holiday bazaar on Saturday, December 14th 10am to 5pm in the Commons.  Please come!  There will be live entertainment, food, and musique!
    • The tradition continues!  The Roosevelt Orchestra Winter Plant Sale runs from November 1-November 22nd. We are excited to offer a range of gorgeous Poinsettias, A Seasonal Centerpiece and Wreaths.  This year we will offer curbside pickup at Roosevelt High School on Saturday December 7th from Noon-5PM.     • Seniors who have not taken a senior portrait for the yearbook and want to schedule an appointment at Rowland Studio, email Ms. Noji at aanoji@seattleschools.org  Availability in the studio is VERY limited so please do this ASAP! There are only spots available before November 30th.
    • Yearbook sale is coming up! The second of three yearbook sales will begin on November 25 and will go until December 15. The cost is $70. (The next sale will be in February and the cost will be $75.) Click here on November 25 to December 15 to order a yearbook! Remember, if you are on Free and Reduced Lunch (FRL), the yearbook is FREE. Please email Amy Noji at aanoji@seattleschools.org ASAP if you are on FRL and would like a yearbook. The number of free books is limited. 
    • Calling Ultimate Frisbee Players! Mixed/Co-Ed Winter Season Tryouts on Nov 18th & 21st!! We are excited to begin the 2024-2025 Mixed/Co-Ed Winter Ultimate season in a few short weeks. Tryout for one of the fastest-growing high school and college sports out there. DiscNW Registration – All players must be registered on DiscNW in order to participate in tryouts. Register here for Roosevelt JV Team (players will be moved to permanent team post-tryout), and then select Pay by Check option (i.e., don’t pay until your player is offered team spot). Tryouts & Initial Practice ScheduleTryouts will be Nov 18 (Mon) and Nov 21 (Thurs), 7pm-9pm at Roosevelt Highschool. We will field two teams (50-55 players). Cuts may be needed since mixed season has fewer spots available per gender.  Nov 25 (Mon) and Nov 27 (Wed) – Teams will be formed and practice will begin the short week of Thanksgiving 7pm-9pm at Roosevelt Highschool.
    • You’re invited to try out for Roosevelt’s Spring Musical! Although we can’t (legally) announce this VERY EXCITING show title until mid-December, considering auditioning to join over 150 actors, crew, and pit musicians in the legacy of the Roosevelt Musical! Info Meetings at Lunch in the Blackbox on Tuesday Nov. 26th or Monday Dec. 2nd. Audition Packets available at rhstheatre.net or scan the QR code in the Theatre Hallway! 
    • The BSU is looking to recruit more freshmen.  If you are interested, please see Ms. Judkins in room 105 for details.
    • CALLING ALL SINGERS! -Staff, Students, Families and Neighbors!
      • We are thrilled to be forming a volunteer community choir to join the award-winning RHS Orchestra to perform an iconic Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy for Piano, Orchestra and Choir! This choir opportunity is open to anyone with at least some singing experience! We need a LOT of vocalists to pull this off, especially male voice.  If any students or adults (staff, family, and/or community members) have a music background, please consider joining us. Whether you perform or will attend as an audience member, plan to be there!

    • Hey Riders! Don’t forget to stop by the Green and Gold Exchange student store, open every day after school except Fridays! Grab some delicious drinks and snacks, and check out our wide selection of merch, from hoodies to slides so you can be green and gold from head to toe! Can’t wait to see you there!
    • ATTENTION RIDERS! DO YOU NEED COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS? The Roosevelt Basketball team is looking for a scorebook technician, a clock operator, 30-sec clock operator, a stats taker, and a videographer. NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED! We train! Want to sing the national anthem? Alone, duet or a group? Roosevelt staff are very welcome to as well. Email 1nmguise@seattleschools.org if interested at all!
    • There is a new tutoring program at Roosevelt high school called The Kennel Study Hall. All students are welcome to drop-in on Monday, Tuesday, and/or Thursday, from 4-6pm for general academic tutoring. We also provide appointments to meet with tutors before school starting at 7:30am, at lunch time, and extended hours for those that have extracurricular activities after school and need tutoring in evenings and/or during the weekends. We look forward to connecting with Roosevelt students to help them develop core competencies in their academic pursuit of excellence. 

    Getting help with your academics is as easy as 1-2-3. 

    1. Request…a tutor by stopping by Room 103 at lunch time to sign-up for tutoring (or stop in during drop-in hours). 
    2. Assess…your academic needs through meeting with an academic coach so we can provide “right-sized” academic support that aligns with your available time to meet. 
    3. Attest…to the effectiveness of support through predictive analytics tracking and satisfaction surveys to ensure you’re not just getting support…you’re enjoying your learning journey with us.

    Congratulations to our Rock Star Librarian, Ms. Redmond on her SOLD OUT performance at the Triple Door last Friday! She brought the house down with her incredible vocals! We love you, Ms. Redmond!

    Roosevelt Boys Water Polo place 3rd in the D1 State Championship Tournament. 

    Over 3 days they battled their way from 8th place to finish in 3rd!

    Rider Girls Varsity Soccer Team is on fire right now and have made it to THE FINAL FOUR!!! In Friday’s round-of-16 state match, we fired off 12 shots on goal, setting the tone for an incredible performance. And if that wasn’t enough, we followed it up with a huge comeback victory over Eastside Catholic, sending us back to Sparks Stadium for the Semifinals!  Now, we’re laser-focused on the state finals next Saturday, but first we have to get through Bellevue HS on Friday. It’s the ultimate chance for redemption – they were the team that denied us our first state title two years ago. Come support to avenge their loss! We need YOU THERE AND LOUD!!!
