IMPORTANT: Parent/Caregiver Survey About Cell Phone Use in School

The Roosevelt PTSA, in collaboration with the Roosevelt Building Leadership Team (BLT), has created a survey in order to better understand how parents and caregivers feel about student cell phone use during school hours. The survey is anonymous to allow everyone to freely express their opinions. The results of this survey will be shared with the Roosevelt community. They will also help to inform the BLT and school administrators on what kind of cell phone policy best fits the needs of Roosevelt students. If you have any questions or comments, please email the PTSA at rhsptsa2020@gmail.com. You can find a description of Roosevelt’s current cell phone policy on page 24 of the Roosevelt Community Handbook. Please complete the survey by Monday, June 9th.

Our Last Yearbook Announcement: Today was Moving Up Day and our school community had a whole lot of fun thanks to our student leaders and many staff members. Hundreds of students also received their yearbooks, and the yearbook staff and editors hope everyone is enjoying seeing pictures and reading stories that reflect our school community this year.   How to purchase a yearbook: If your student did not purchase a yearbook and would like to, please go to this SchoolPay link: Last Chance Yearbook Sale. This sale will continue until supplies run out or the school year ends. Students may also bring cash, or a check made out to Roosevelt High School for $75. Students will need to show proof of purchase when picking up their book.

How to receive a yearbook: If students ordered a yearbook or requested a free one (if they are on FRL) and did not pick up their yearbook on May 30, it will be delivered to them early next week in their period 2 class on Monday – Wednesday, June 2-4.

Students who do not have period 2 at school may bring their ID to pick up their book after school on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday until 4:15 from room 239. There may be other times that we will make yearbooks available, but students will have to check the sign that will say “Yearbook Pick Up is Open/Closed” on the door of room 239. There will be NO passing out of books if the sign says Closed.

Focus on Gratitude: Putting together a yearbook is a major accomplishment. Many things had to go right. However, we expect that there will be mistakes. Remember, the yearbook is NOT a professional publication. It is a student publication, made by students who were learning how to use real cameras, interview people they didn’t know, write in journalistic style, and design pages that look like magazine spreads… and they were doing most of this work for homework. This whole process was managed and edited by student editors… all on tight and very real deadlines. Just imagine a year-long group project involving 29 students. 😳Thank you for being supportive of our student journalist

Today was a joyous day of pure High School FUN and CELEBRATION at our Moving-Up Assembly and Field Day.  Students were able to enjoy the perfect weather, play games, pet animals, sign yearbooks and soak in their final days with their friends. Faculty, Staff, Parents, Students and Community Members were here to join in the fun. A huge THANK YOU to ASR Leadership Crew for making today’s Assembly and Field Day possible. Shout out to Ms. Noji and the Yearbook staff for getting the Yearbooks here and out so students can enjoy them. We have a LOT of HAPPY STUDENTS here at Roosevelt. You should all be so proud of them. We are counting down the days until Graduation for the class of 2025 and looking ahead as we plan for next year!   I hope to see some of you on Tuesday June 3rd, at the 8th Grade Welcome Night!  Can’t wait to meet the future Rough Riders and their families too.
