General Announcements:

  • Hey Seniors – Are you headed to UW next year? Check out the newly posted scholarship in the RHS Scholarship Bulletin on your School Counselor’s Schoology page in the “Scholarships” folder. The Eleanor Davis Pinkham Scholarship (up to $3000) will be awarded to two Roosevelt High School graduates who are entering the UW in the fall. You can also access the information and application with this link: https://new.expo.uw.edu/expo/scholarships/pinkham
  • Apply to day to be part of The Roosevelt News Class next year!  Write, photograph, illustrate, be published, and learn leadership.  QR codes are posted in the halls or see Mr. Reese in 235.  Applications are due this Friday, May 10th by 4pm.
  • Seniors – Get all your ‘End of Year’ to-do-list done by May 24th.  You know what I am talking about: Service-Learning Hours, Naviance, etc. Check your school email account for details.
  • Prom tickets are being sold every day during lunch at the concession stand.  If you need a guest form, they will be available outside the ASR room.
  • May is bike month. So, bike to school we’re looking to see a lot more bikes on those racks!
  • Seniors be sure to fill out the fieldtrip form for the grad luncheon.  The forms are available in the main office.
  • Seniors, if you bought a cap and gown, we will try to deliver them to you in your classroom.
  • Come and support our Rider Marching Band on Sunday, May 18th for the Annual Neighborhood Parade, it starts on 68th and 12th at 11am. All are welcome to join along the route.
  • ASR is looking for a band to perform in the courtyard during moving up day on May 31st! If you have a band you would like to participate with, please email Ellie Geyer (1elgeyer@seattleschools.org)!
  • BSU is having their 2nd annual Spring Cookout on Wednesday, May 22nd during lunch.  Please check your email to sign up to participate.  Spots are capped at 100 for both staff and students. This will take place in the courtyard.
  • Please share your plans (even if you’re not sure) for the future! Check out RHSSeattleYearbook Instagram to contribute to the Senior Destinations Google Form. We need this by May 10!
  • Attention Seniors: Spree Tickets On Sale: We are excited to start talking about Spree.  This is the event your seniors have been waiting for and we want everyone to participate in this all-night graduation party. Visit our Spree2024 page to find out more details about what Spree is, purchase your tickets and complete your registration forms. The current price is $175 per ticket. Prices will increase on May 1. Scholarships are available.
  • Listen up current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors! Interested in joining ASR? Applications for next year are now open! The link has been sent to all students, is on the asr Instagram, in the daily bulletin, and is posted around the school! Applications are due Friday April 26th! Remember you must have a teacher recommendation letter which has been sent to their emails.  TEACHERS! If you know a student who would be an asset to ASR, please encourage them to apply.
  • This year’s yearbook is amazing so don’t miss the last sale, the SPRING YEARBOOK SALE, happening NOW until 10 p.m. on May 5th.  Please note there is a limited supply. The sale will be turned off if we run out of books! Purchase a 2023-24 yearbook.
  • We also have some yearbooks available for students facing financial challenges. Please see Ms. Noji or email aanoji@seattleschools.org as soon as possible. 
  • Attention all students lucky enough to have use of a car, please remember you are part of a community.  When you drive too fast or without proper attention, you risk your life and the life of others.  When you park in the neighborhood, pay attention to the restrictions and park only where you are permitted, for the length of time you are allowed.  To all students, DO NOT Litter, it’s just rude.
  • This week is week three for rider of the week!! Nominate your athlete on the link in your email or on @rider_athletics on Insta!!!!-
  • Basketball Open gym: Mondays 7:30 to 9:00pm.  All are welcome.
  • The RHS Student Store is open 5 days a week! Mondays at lunch, Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, Wednesdays and Fridays in the morning. Stop by to get your favorite Rider gear and tasty snacks.
  • Go follow @rider_athletics on Instagram to be caught up on all athletic information.
  • Freshmen listen up!  Class of 2027 merch is available now on SchoolPay for PRE-SALE!  This is the cheapest of the gear will be, so order before the pre-sale ends!  All the profits go towards fun events for the class of 2027. So makes sure to support your grade.

  • All are welcome to attend the Spring Conditioning Club in the weight room after school weekdays. Open to all students interested in improving their health by working on your strength and core.  We offer a variety of exercises, using the weight room and track. A positive attitude, workout clothing and shoes is all you need, no prior experience is required to attend.
  • The parking lot on the West side of school is a Roosevelt Staff Parking lot.  Please respect the rules and do not park in the parking lot during school hours. The penalty for parking in staff parking lot is as follows:
    • 1st Offense – Car sticker, take down the plate and SPS Safety and Security will identify the license plate and let Roosevelt know who the car belongs to and then there will be a call home to parents.
    • 2nd Offense – $50 fine
    • 3rd and additional offenses – $50 fine
  • Homework Center is now open on Tuesday & Thursday before school from 7:30 to 8:30 in the Library and the Tutoring Center is open Monday, Tuesday, & Thursdays from 3:45 to 5:15 in Room 110 (across from the counseling office)

Seniors – Interested in the Military?

Seniors – if you’re interested in pursuing in the military (Marine Corp, Army, Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard) right after high school, please come see Mr. Rho, Career Center, Room 110 whenever you’re free to provide you step by step guideline what to do that includes: job search opportunities, bonuses/benefits, requirements/process, ASVAB exam that will happen in May, and more. 

Scholarships

Seniors of color with plans for continuing their education and training after graduation are encouraged to visit the RHS Counseling Office to pick up an application for the James A Davis, Jr Scholarship offered by RARE.  There are two $5,000 scholarship awards to help pay for post-secondary education.  Don’t delay!  Applications are due back Feb 26.

  • Prom is May 18th at the Columbia Tower
  • Graduation Rehearsal, Tuesday, June 11th 10am-11am. 
  • This is mandatory!  It is important that your student attends this rehearsal. More information will be available closer to the date. 
  • Senior Luncheon, Tuesday, June 11th, immediately after graduation rehearsal
  • Lunch for the senior class will be catered following the graduation rehearsal.
