Welcome to Roosevelt High School!!!

RoughRider Day!!!
Just a reminder that Tuesday, September 2 is RoughRider Day.  This is the day to come pick up schedules, get your picture taken, pick up Orca cards, etc.!!  Please check what time you should come by clicking on this LINK to the flyer with more information.
IMPORTANT- NEW START/END TIMES
New Start and End Time: Very important message here.  Before the end of the 2013-2014 school year, the school board voted on start and end times for all of the schools in Seattle Public.  I tried to maintain our current 8am start time, but to no avail.  As a result, our new start and end times are 7:50am and 2:20pm.  This is not a big shift, but is worth wrapping your brains around. Click HERE for copy of new schedule.
Green & Gold Day 2014 - Freshman Orientation

Hello Families of the Class of 2018!

We are very excited that your child will be attending Roosevelt High School and we look forward to meeting your student on Orientation Day. As you may know, our school participates in the nationwide Link Crew Program, an organization whose sole purpose is to help freshmen feel more comfortable as well as help them achieve success in their first year of high school. Here at Roosevelt we call our Link Crew program RIDER CREW.

The Link Crew freshman orientation and transition program is designed to both welcome and support freshmen by assigning them a junior or senior Link Leader as a mentor during this first year. This Link Leader is a responsible older student who was hand selected from a large pool of applicants and has met the qualifications of being a good role model and a positive leader on our campus.

Following is some information to let you know what you and your student can expect in advance of the orientation which will take place on Wednesday August 27th beginning at 8am in the main gym. We will be finished by noon.

1)     A day or two before orientation your child will also receive a phone call from her or his Rider Crew Leader personally inviting your student to orientation day and giving the details of where to be and what time;

2)    Your child is encouraged not to bring backpacks, purses or other like items as

      the day is quite active;

3)    Because the day is active, please make sure that your child wears comfortable

clothing that does not restrict movement.

This is a student only function so we encourage you to let your child attend on her or

his own. While this event is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged and we typically have a very high turnout.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

Summer Reading Assignment for the Class of 2018
Incoming freshmen, your ninth grade Language Arts and Social Studies teachers are providing you with a wonderful opportunity to keep your brain sharp over the summer.  The reading assignment they are asking you to complete is not going to take up much of your summer vacation, but it is important that you choose a book from the READING LIST, read it and complete the assignment set out on the attachment. You can print out the attachment and your Language Arts teacher will collect it from you within the first few days of class in September.
