Washington Neurodiversity Project Internship – OPEN (Paid)

Washington Neurodiversity Project (WNP) is a private foundation focused on increasing employment outcomes for neurodivergent people in Washington state.

Washington Neurodiversity Project is offering a PAID summer work experience for young adults (ages 18-21 by July 2025) with Autism, ADD or ADHD to help them build workplace confidence and explore their interests.

UDOC – OPEN

Changemakers in Computing (CIC)

Changemakers in Computing (CIC) is a 4-week free summer program for Washington State high school students to learn about technology, society, and justice. Hosted by the University of Washington’s Allen School, Changemakers in Computing aims to increase the participation of underrepresented, economically disadvantaged, and/or future first-generation college students in computer science and engineering. The program is open to all rising juniors and seniors at Washington State high schools.

High School Summer Research

The Allen School High School Summer Research Intern Program is an opportunity for high school students to engage in research being done in the Allen School. Interns will spend about 8 weeks working on a project under the supervision and support of a research mentor. We encourage students who do not have much programming experience or any research experience to apply for the program. We will use the information about background knowledge provided in the application to find the best project match for applicants based on project requirements and applicant experience.

The program is open to all rising junior and senior high school students in Washington state. Applications for the High School Summer Research Internships will open on March 1st and close on March 31st. For more information please check our Frequently Asked Questions page.

Enroll in an Allen School Summer Course

U.S. high school students can earn college credit by taking courses at the University of Washington during Summer Sessions! To be eligible, you must have completed eighth grade or its equivalent by June 30, 2024. You can find the list of Allen School summer courses on our CSE Time Schedules page. Miller Hul: Open Studio Summer Internship – Open (Paid)

One full-time, paid internship is offered to a high school student who has completed their junior or senior year. For 4 weeks, this student will have an opportunity to tour construction sites, attend team meetings and work in a professional environment. Over the course of the month, a portfolio of the intern’s work will be assembled and will culminate in a brief presentation on their last day. Transit expenses to get to our studio are covered.

Position Summary

The Camp Aide will ensure smooth camp programming by providing support to classroom educators and camp location site leads as directed. This position upholds our mission to provide safe, interactive, week-long STEM camps for school age children to spark lifelong curiosity, significantly enhance the participant’s experience and expand Pacific Science Center’s role as a driving force for informal science education. The Camp Aide position will focus on two areas of operations: classroom management and supply inventory.


Career Quest Internships for Summer 2025 – Open (Paid)

Finance Quest (Amazon Periscope)– $400 stipend (2 weeks)

Future accountants, managers, marketing majors and more can learn about the innerworkings of Amazon’s business model.

  • Location: Amazon Campus (South Lake Union)

Science Quest (Allen Institute) – $500 stipend (2 weeks)

In this unique class, students will participate in advanced lab activities, leaving with increased confidence in biomedical science research and data. Students will generate, analyze, and interpret scientific data and gain exposure to neuroscience, cell biology, and immunology. 

  • Who: All SPS students who have completed a biology course
  • Dates: July 14-July 25, 9:30am-3:00pm (Monday through Friday)
  • Location: Allen Institute (South Lake Union)

Tech Quest (Amazon)– Paid

Tech Quest at Amazon is a 2-week summer program for SPS high school students to explore technology careers of the future. You can expect introductory coding, project based learning and Amazon career guest speakers.

ACAP’s 2025 Summer Residency Program – Open

he Accounting Career Awareness Program is pleased to invite applicants from WA state high school students of color to its Summer 2025 Residency Week program at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business. Our mission is to help underrepresented students realize academic and career opportunities in accounting and business.

This free, week-long residential program for rising WA state high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors introduces participants to accounting and the many opportunities offered in a career field actively seeking to diversify its workforce. Participants reside on campus, learn in and out of the classroom, visit accounting firms, build valuable life skills, and network with other students and diverse professionals while enjoying a taste of campus life.

This program is 100% free and includes housing in campus dorms, food, and all activities.

UW Botanic Gardens Internship for Summer 2025 – Open

What: RBYS is a youth employment program of Tilth Alliance for youth, ages 14-18, to gain job experience through wetland restoration and farm education. Participants will work at the Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands and support with field maintenance, food distribution, and wetland restoration.

Applications Now Open for the UW Botanical Gardens Junior Naturalist Service Program

UW Botanic Gardens Junior Naturalist applications are now open for the summer program. Junior Naturalists are teens volunteering with the Arboretum Summer Camp for a two-week session. The program is looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about working with kids, playing outside, and gaining leadership skills. Students can earn up to 75 service hours, and will receive a letter of recommendation upon successful completion of the program.

Qualified Students are:

Teens in Public Service (TIPS) – PAID Internship

The 2025 application for Teens in Public Service (TIPS) is now open! TIPS provides paid summer internships at nonprofit organizations for high school students passionate about leadership and service. Internship placements range from museums to nature preserves, food banks, summer camps, and more!

TIPS interns gain…

  • A summer’s worth of impactful work experience
  • Exposure to the “behind the scenes” of nonprofit orgs carrying out community-centered work
  • Mentorship, networking opportunity, and support from TIPS and their nonprofit supervisors / coworkers

Youth Maritime Career Launch Program – PAID

The Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle and Port of Seattle are now recruiting for Summer and Fall 2025 cohorts for a paid internship opportunity in the maritime industry, a sector in the Pacific Northwest with tremendous growth and living-wage career opportunities. This program is specifically designed to support graduating seniors interested in alternatives to traditional college, who are drawn to hands-on technical work, and interested in environmental/marine industries.

Seattle Promise (2 Years Free Tuition) Application Now Open!

Seattle Promise is a college tuition and success program launched by Seattle Colleges, Seattle Public Schools, and the City of Seattle. It offers free tuition at any of the Seattle Colleges: North Seattle CollegeSeattle Central College or South Seattle College for up to two years, 90 college credits or a student’s first degree, whichever comes first.

All graduating seniors attending Seattle public high schools are eligible for the Seattle Promise program regardless of grade point average (GPA), income, ability, or country of birth. But you MUST APPLY to claim your free tuition. The application deadline is February 14, 2025.

Even if you are expecting to attend a 4-year university after high school, sometimes plans change, and you do not want to miss out on free tuition for 2 years. You cannot apply to Seattle Promise after February 16, so do it now even if it is a backup plan.

Worksite Learning: Earn HS credit for your Job!

Who & What: Do you have a job or internship or will have one soon? Great news! You can earn up to 1.0 CTE credits for work and internship experiences. To participate, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Students must have a job or internship

To enroll in this program, students must complete the following:

  • Complete the Learning at Work interest form below
  • Complete the enrollment packet and return to your CCLC, Mr. Rho

To complete this program, students must complete at least 180 hours in one school year for 0.5 CTE credits or 360 for 1.0 CTE credits. Hours will not count until your enrollment has been approved.

Leap at Pasado's Safe Haven 
A revolutionary new humane education program putting ethics, animals, and the planet at the front of our learning.

Who: 9th – 12th Grade 

What: Leaders for Ethics, Animals, and the Planet (LEAP) is returning to Pasado’s this year! LEAP offers community building, leadership training, and hands-on learning that focuses on animal rescue and care, introductory veterinary medicine, ethics, the impacts of the current food system on the environment and human rights, as well as climate solutions and the future of animal welfare. As part of the LEAP program, students will participate in collaborative lessons along with opportunities to learn from professionals in fields such as animal law, food science, veterinary medicine, sanctuary management, renewable energy, and more.

Where: Pasado’s Safe Haven

Benefits:

  • Hands On Service Hours with Animals – LEAPers will complete at least four service hours per month getting training in animal care, sanctuary management, and introductory veterinary medicine
  • Leadership and Community Building – LEAP promotes leadership development through animal advocacy,  public speaking, and community engagement. Teens will also have the opportunity to connect with other like-minded teens wanting to improve the world!
  • Scholarship Opportunities – After completion of a LEAP program year, participants will have the chance to complete projects for a chance to win up to $1000 in scholarship for education OR job training opportunities.

School Connect Washington

What: School Connect WA provides after school literacy and math tutoring/programming for BIPOC and McKinney Vento children in Seattle Public Schools. We have recently partnered with Bagley Elementary School and Bethany Community Church – Green Lake to provide tutoring for 1st-5th graders. Since Bagley Elementary is not too far from Roosevelt it would be an easy commute for any students who are interested in volunteering.

Uterish Internship – Open

What: Uterish is a Seattle-based reproductive justice nonprofit, and we offer a summer internship for self-directed rising juniors and seniors who are passionate about social justice and want to build their editorial and communications skills.

This internship is a great opportunity for students to learn more about social justice, connect with like-minded peers, and develop their professional skills in a collaborative, feminist nonprofit environment. We gladly sign off on volunteer hours, and have coordinated school credit on behalf of interns who have needed it in the past. It is a low-commitment internship (around 5 hours a week) coordinated around the schedule of the interns. Applications are due by March 24th.

SYEP Summer Internship – Open

Who: To be eligible, each applicant must be between the ages of 16 and 24 at the start of internship, live in Seattle or attend a Seattle Public School or Seattle College (Seattle Central, North Seattle, South Seattle), and live in a household with income at or below 80% Area Median Income.

What: The Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is currently accepting applications for our Summer Internship Program.  The Summer Internship Program is a 6-week program, giving youth and young adults in the Seattle area the opportunity to gain practical experience to build their resumes and to make potential connections that may advance their career and/or education. 

Pay: Interns will be paid at the City’s minimum wage of $20.76 and will be provided support in accessing public transportation and stable meal options during internship. 

When: Summer Internship program will start July 9, 2025, and end August 25, 2025

Where: The program will include virtual, in-person, and hybrid activities

Deadline: March 21, 2025.

PACTRANS Public Sector Internship – Open

What: If you are interested in a career in public sector infrastructure (transportation, engineering, planning, computer science, and more), this is the perfect opportunity to gain valuable on-the-job experience, build your resume and work side-by-side with professional mentors!

Requirements: Must be either a high school 11th or 12th grader

When: Up to 3 months (completed before June 30)

Work Hours: 8-16 hours per week (up to 40 hours per week allowed during school breaks)

Pay: Students can earn up to $4000 depending on hours and length of time worked


Seattle Children’s Research Institute – Open

Who: Current 10th grade students who are able to commute to downtown Seattle

What: Starting in 2025, the Research Training Program (RTP) is expanding into a two-year, in-person program with scaffolded experiences to introduce high school students in grade 10 to laboratory research. *Note that activities for the 2025-2026 school year and summer 2026 are contingent on available funding.  

  • Summer 2025: During the Research Training, students will:
    • Learn how to work in a research laboratory environment at Seattle Children’s Research Institute.
    • Learn about topics including biochemistry, immunotherapy, gene editing and infectious diseases.
    • Participate in workshops on college readiness and career exploration.
    • Conduct their own independent project utilizing the skills they have learned.
  • 2025-2026 school year: Students will participate in monthly workshops (in-person and virtual) on topics in Science Communication.
  • Summer 2026: During the Research Experience, the trained students will return to work directly alongside research mentors in laboratories at Seattle Children’s Research Institute.

The program provides students with a solid foundation for a future career in biomedical research. Students who participate must commit to participating in all planned activities of the Research Training Program from July 2025 to August 2026.

Students will receive stipends to offset costs for transportation and meals: $2,000 for summer 2025, $200 during the 2025-2026 school year and $2,500 for summer 2026.

When: Applications are due March 9, letters of recommendation are due March 30, and in late April to early May students will be notified of acceptance.

The research training program will take place from Monday, July 13 to Friday, August 14, 2026, from 8:30 a.m.–4 p.m. daily.


Seattle Children’s Scrubs and ‘Scopes Camp – Open

What: We are offering local high school students the opportunity to participate in our free Scrubs & ’Scopes Camp at Seattle Children’s. During this five-day camp, students will explore various allied health careers by job shadowing medical assistants, pharmacists, laboratory scientists and technicians/technologists in Pharmacy, Radiology, Surgery, Sterile Processing and Anesthesia in a clinical environment, observing as they provide patient care.

Students will also work through interactive, hands-on simulation labs to learn and practice various skills on models such as taking blood pressure and blood oxygen levels; simulating medication compounding for oral and IV medications; using microscopes; and taking X-rays, among other experiences.

Additionally, students will have the opportunity to engage with allied health professionals to ask questions and discuss various education and career paths.

Then, join the Connections Crew at Roosevelt High SchoolThe Connections program aims to build a strong sense of belonging for EVERYONE at Roosevelt. Over one year, 12 lucky crew members (students) will facilitate fun activities, bringing together diverse groups of their peers. 

When:

  • In semester 1, crew members LEARN by participating in fun workshops and field trips.  Interactive workshops are held once a week after school.  Field trips are biweekly (once every two weeks). Semester 1 programming is from October 8th to January 28th.
  • Throughout semester 2, the Connections Crew gets to work DOING as they plan and lead various FUNDED activities for their peers.
