School Leadership Update
Roosevelt High School Leadership Update
Dear Roosevelt Families and Staff,
I am excited to share that Kristin Rose has accepted an appointment to serve as Roosevelt High School’s principal beginning Jan. 29.
Principal Rose is currently serving as principal at Eckstein Middle School where she has led collaboratively with staff and community for the last nine years—most of those years as Principal. Principal Rose is a Seattle Public Schools alum, having graduated from Roosevelt. She is also a proud SPS parent and former high school teacher and administrator.
Fifteen years before her principalship at Eckstein, Mrs. Rose served as both a teacher and as assistant principal at Inglemoor High School and Bothell High School in the Northshore School District. In each leadership role, Principal Rose created a strong foundation of academic rigor and success for all students while centering collaboration with staff, community and students.
I am incredibly grateful for Principal Rose’s willingness to step into this new role just a few miles from Eckstein where she knows students, the community, and is dedicated to seeing her alma mater continue to rise.
To allow for a smooth transition for both Eckstein and Roosevelt, Assistant Principal Ivory Brooks–who returns to work this week–will serve as lead administrator at RHS through the end of the first semester (Jan. 12-28).
Assistant Principals (Tenea Jones, Christy Bowman-White, and Berna Cristobal) will each continue at Roosevelt during this time of transition while the central office support of Dr. Mike McCarthy and Dr. Jessica Conte will also continue in support.
Please join me in congratulating Principal Rose as new leader at Roosevelt High School! She will be available to meet staff and families during Roosevelt’s 2026 Information Night on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 6:30 p.m. as well as by email at kprose@seattleschools.org.
If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at mjmccarthy@seattleschools.org.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we have been working to ensure excellent leadership for Roosevelt High School.
In Partnership,
Dr. Mike McCarthy
Regional Executive Director of Schools
