Meet Maria Torres, Roosevelt’s Prevention & Intervention Specialist! Maria supports Roosevelt’s SBIRT program, including the Check Yourself student screening, brief interventions, student check-ins, and connections to school and community resources. She previously supported students through SBIRT in Seattle Public Schools and is excited to be part of the Roosevelt community this year. Maria grew up in Brewster, WA, graduated from Western Washington University, and served as a Peace Corps Education Volunteer in Madagascar. Outside of school, she enjoys paddleboarding, hiking, Mariners games, traveling, and building her ever-growing LEGO Botanical collection. Please feel free to stop by and say hello!

Hi, my name is Jordan, I am a 1:1 Paraeducator/Special Education Assistant.

I graduated from Northwestern College of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology with career concentrations in psychology, criminal justice and anthropology.

My experience includes working with at risk youth in a residential and outdoor education program as well as providing care for 25 years in a home for persons with developmental, physical, and intellectual disabilities.

For a few years I did volunteer service at homeless shelters in Seattle.

I have an amazing 9 year old daughter. I like to exercise and stay active(tennis, dancing, biking, hiking etc.) and play and record music in my free time.
