About Associated Students of Roosevelt (ASR)

The students of Roosevelt High School are governed by four ASR Officers and four Class Councils comprised of four elected student from each grade level. There are also multiple appointed ASR members. Students in ASB plan, organize, and participate in such activities as Roughrider Day, Prom, Homecoming, spirit weeks, assemblies, grade-level competitions, Random Acts of Kindness Everyday (RAKE), lunchtime activities, fundraisers, and other school-wide activities throughout the year.

The Associated Students of Roosevelt work to promote leadership, initiative and change through the student body. ASR is a year long class at Roosevelt High School run by Roosevelt’s Activities Director and is located in room 109. If you are interested in being a leader at Roosevelt High School, consider running for an office or applying to be appointed to the class.

ASR Elections

Are you interested in being in Roosevelt Student Government?

Associated Students of Roosevelt (ASR) is currently accepting applications! This is a class that counts towards an Occupational Ed credit and is held during 2nd period. Within this class, you will strengthen your leadership skills, study and practice ASB law, and create projects that improve the school community and climate. You can run for a class council position or apply for an appointed position. All students are eligible to apply!

Class Council Packets: Are you a current freshman, sophomore, or junior who is interested in running for ASR Class Council? Fill out the application and submit it to Mr. Thompson at djthompson1@seattleschools.org.

Appointed Position Packets: Are you interested in being in ASR but don’t want to run for election? Positions are available in a variety of fields (details in the application) for all grade levels. Complete the appointed position packet and email it to Mr. Thompson at djthompson1@seattleschools.org.

Associated Students of Roosevelt (ASR): ASR officers are elected in the spring and Student Senate Officers are elected in their homeroom classes. Senate Meetings are held monthly to keep students informed of ASR activities and gain input on student initiatives.

Class Officers / Student Board Members: Each class elects student representatives in the spring, except freshman who are elected in the fall. Class officers plan and implement student activities, fundraise for their class and assist the school wide goals of ASR. Student Board Members assist their class officers with their particular class goals and the goals of ASR.

Associated Student Body (ASB) Funds

Required per RCW 28A.325.050

An Associated Student Body (ASB) is a formal organization of students, including sub-component or affiliated student groups, formed at each public school within Seattle Schools. The programs of the ASB are any optional, noncredit, extra-curricular activity conducted in whole or in part by or on behalf of an ASB, during or outside regular school hours, within or outside school grounds and facilities and conducted with the approval of the school district or under the official designee to whom authority has been delegated to act on behalf of an ASB or sub-component group. ASB programs and activities must be of a cultural, athletic, recreational or social nature benefitting the ASB.

Money generated or collected, including fundraising proceeds, in conjunction with ASB activities, is public money which must be deposited into the ASB Fund. ASB public money may only be used for optional, noncredit, extra-curricular events and activities of a cultural, athletic, recreational, or social nature.
